KISSES AND EVERYTHING AFTER

Whats in the studio?
Last years project of lovers/kissers/love is.. I can't remember the actual point but it was very enjoyable; there's something quite cathartic and uplifting about googling/google eyeing/google perving on passionate kisses.

The start of a mood board for my new illustration project, plus my Bowie doodling.

BOWIE IN SPACE

Its a brand new year, Bowie's in space (sad times) and I have some new work to do for Skipton Open studios... Best get on with it!

NEGATIVE PROJECTOR FUN...

i managed to pull apart and fix a 70s slide projector that i bought on ebay, luckily my mother studied photography at college so i have access to a whole heap of family and artsy negatives to play with.

this picture was taken of me on my 5th birthday, nan had made me a train cake with all the carriages holding different sweet delights

ITS JUST-ABOUT-SERIOUSLY-NOT..BUT..NEARLY XMAS!

..two turtle doves..
merry-not-quite christmas

its been a crazy year for me, so i thought i'd bring it down a peg with some dove-love-pigeon-revival-random xmas art, because we know we all need it

i've been working away in my new studio -THE ART ROOMS- this year mainly producing nothing but a mess.. but i'm all inspired now having just got back from London where I stayed on a lovely boat house..

so xmas in october seemed like the best way to start the motIONS..

things i'll be licking the walls with..
negative projection - after hearing a talk from JULIAN HAND PROJECTION at branchage this summer
tracey emin type drawing projects (yes those drawings)- after having been to an exhibition at the WHITE CUBE in london
and postcard art - having read G.P.O verses G.P-O

..so until next time, have a wonderful halloween-xmas-bonfire night x

the opposite of everything...

colour used to make me dizzy; and flowers are the last thing i could see myself painting... ever!? but here it is...

i'm as confused as anyone

random thought: one of my earliest memories as a child was going to my nan's house every weekend with my little wicker basket that she would fill with the most wonderful floral arrangements for me to take home for the week; and as the flowers faded and died I would get really excited about the coming weekend when she would make a brand new arrangement for me (possibly why i like dead flowers)

i'm reading: Evelyn Waugh, Brideshead Revisited

LOUISE BROOKS

i've had this beautiful portrait of a woman in my scrapbook for years, and only recently discovered it to be Louise Brooks a 1920s actress and model; i'm very much in awe of her and she couldn't have come into my life at a better time; i may have to get a bob now

JERSEY ARTS TRUST - ARTIST COLLABORATION @ HAMPTONNE

i was selected to take part in a collaborative project with artists from St Malo and from Jersey at Hamptonne in Jersey from 10th to 13th February 2014 organised by the Jersey Arts Trust

i learnt a lot about myself and my art practice, the idea of the project was to break language barriers through art

the initial idea was morse code, teamed up with Javier, originally from Mexico we created individual art pieces using our own mediums, i of course did a drawing and Javier used photography. and as a collaborative piece we made a stop motion animation using the morse code sound in the background. what an amazingly fun experience i had! although it did make me realise that i need to progress my artwork and move on to brighter more colourful horizons in my work..
